Since the beginning architecture has happened thanks to experimentation, and then it has been perfected. Man's building have evolved from huts into skyscrapers, and our materials have expanded from wood and clay, to adobe, stone, concrete, steel, and plastic. In order to reinvent architecture in the age of digital machines, computers must start building digital huts. Just as Deleuzian architectural forms and ideas can unfold, evolve, and envelope to create a labyrinth of contracting and expanding continuous elastic forces, Plastic Architecture possesses plasticity in the sense of expression, and in the sense of materiality, being capable of folding shapes around the viewer.

Understanding architecture through computer software and using it to repeat the processes we used to plan our spaces is a mannerism. It's an act that doesn't question our way of conceiving space, nor the one in which we relate with technology and artificial intelligence. Inside the computer form loses its solidity. It can expand or contract depending its needs. As information is a fluid, buildings are liquified into dispersed systems that allows them to change its form as if they were made of clay.
Being digital doesn't reduce our architecture's humanness, it embraces it. Our buildings for Noster + Partners are true hybrids between human and computer language. They come from our hands and minds, but they can only be completed by machines. The animate and the inanimate mix through creative practice, advancing architectural practice and ideas outside the accepted tradition.
New problems open the paths to new solutions, so by moshing walls, floors, and beams, the computer opens vistas previously unknown to conventional architecture.

Nosterland rises between forces far away from known latitudes ingrained in virtual reality… almost unaware of constructive systems, ecosystems or notion of time. Distant from real concerns that could eventuate the possibility of materialization and intersections between art, architecture and dreams, you might find similarities and attempt to draw lines between our work and proposal and other uneventful propositions (existent or non existent labels like sea level rise, great pacific garbage patch, investment and property value, poverty, overpopulation or simply Newton’s cenotaph by Etienne-Louis Boullee).
We, the Forman Noster founders along with our 3D printer Kinar Shapiro, work in between Mexico City and Sydney. If we were meant to meet at a midpoint, that would be just by the right of the International Date Line (IDL), not far from the French Polynesia. The IDL is an imaginary line that divides today from tomorrow and borders the Kiribati Archipelago. Hence, the future is eternally pushing Nosterland, just as Sisyphus is doomed to push a stone forever. It is present on a single moment: today. However, the foundation of Nosterland is more important that its location.
The Nosterland project stands for all the ideals we have envisioned at Noster and Partners by building an urban model in the middle of the sea. This is the Nosterlandschaftsarchitektur, or the natural way of understanding construction and landscape on 3D modeling and virtual environments. We believe smart cities in the middle of the desert will fall into obvious problems which we, Forman Noster refuse to address at this stage in this text. Can we propose based on the enormous array of information gathered by NASA and Google, which are two veritable organizations that provide military and civilian control, a different intention? The one of converging?
We are proposing to build a huge dome, using hurricanes three dimensional models as guiding blue prints. This is a moment frozen in time, one that suggests we are not in control of nature but we dare to tame, and day by day subvert to our own desires. Just as Hurricane Katrina landfall in Florida, Nosterland landfalls in Katrina. An array of mechanized apparatuses will populate current un-populated waters to start gathering debris, tons and tons of debris. But with an array of drones and machines Nosterland will raise to be confused with Atlantis. In this way, we use extrusion to create a large collapse.

The raise of Nosterland proposes no political, economic or social concern… It might raise to be populated by ideas and will become a temple of ideas, with thousands of chapels destined for great or not so great ideas’ displays.
NOSTER + PARTNERS
FIND YOUR DREAM HOME AT NOSTERLAND.
Spaces that will fit your needs, with nothing but the immensity of the ocean around you.
Noster and Partners is looking for volunteers to populate Nosterland, a free-trade zone that will be accesible from Port Nosterland, located at Jarvis Island.
Nosterland is a city in the move, one that follows the tide. Thanks to the IDL, if you travel to the east you will be in the present. But if you travel to the west you will be in the future.
